Top academic honours were claimed by MRDC-backed students, highlighting the impact of the company’s ongoing support for learners from resource project communities across the country.

Among the leading achievers was Kuwimb Hugum, sponsored under Petroleum Resources Moran (PDL5), who walked away with the Outstanding Academic Performance Award. Another high achiever, Tonnica Nandie, supported by Gas Resources Hides 4, received the TVET Outstanding Academic Performance Award.

A total of 33 students funded through MRDC’s landowner companies graduated during the ceremony, completing various diploma and degree programmes in different fields of study.

The graduation saw more than 1,000 students receive their qualifications, with MRDC-supported students forming part of the larger cohort drawn from across Papua New Guinea.

MRDC Managing Director Augustine Mano said the results reflected the importance of investing in human capital, adding that the graduates are now equipped to make meaningful contributions to their communities.

“Education is a key driver of development. These graduates are now in a strong position to contribute to their communities and the country,” he said.
