The agreement was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the university's recent visit to Lae, with both institutions committing to work together in strengthening academic pathways and encouraging excellence among students.
Lae Secondary School is widely recognised as one of Morobe's leading secondary schools, earning a reputation for consistently strong academic results, effective leadership and an innovative approach to education. The school is also working towards being recognised as a Provincial School of Excellence, reflecting years of commitment to quality teaching and student achievement.
The school's achievements extend beyond the classroom. It has represented Papua New Guinea at the World Robotics Competition in Singapore in 2023, Athens, Greece, in 2024, and Panama City in 2025, demonstrating its focus on developing students with skills that can compete on the international stage.
Following the signing ceremony, representatives from IBSUniversity met with Grade 12 students to introduce the university's academic programmes, scholarship opportunities and study pathways available after completing secondary education.
The presentation also highlighted future career and higher education options aimed at helping students make informed decisions about their next steps.
IBSUniversity thanked Lae Secondary School Principal Mr Raymond, the school's administration, teachers and students for the warm welcome during the visit.
"We look forward to working together to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders."
