Here is a scholarship opportunity for Papua New Guineans. The Australia Awards Short Course Awards are short courses tailored to develop knowledge and skills, address priority human resource development areas and build partnerships and linkages between Australian organisations and partner organisations in developing countries.
The short courses are designed to provide leaders and professionals from the public service, private sector and civil society in Papua New Guinea to study a short course with an Australian university, TAFE, or Registered Training Organisation (RTO).

There are two categories of programs available for this short course scholarship awards.
- Graduate Certificate of Disease and Infection Control
- Graduate Certificate of Leadership
Below are descriptions of each of this programs
- Graduate Certificate of Disease and Infection Control
Australia Awards PNG will deliver a Graduate Certificate of Disease & Infection Control short course to participants employed in the health sector in Papua New Guinea, including health research and policy roles. This course will provide participants with an increased understanding of diseases and infection control measures in a variety of health contexts including rural and remote locations. It will support the development of increased technical skills for successful infection control and management including responding to COVID-19 challenges.
The course will target those in positions of responsibility to increase knowledge and skills with the aim of providing both individuals and institutions with increased capacity to identify, respond to, and manage disease and infection. Course participants will be drawn from the National Department of Health, Provincial Health Authorities, Hospitals, Medical Facilities, Health Laboratories, Medical Research Institutes, NGOs, and other health delivery organisations.

Australia Awards is seeking experienced, upcoming leaders in state-owned enterprises, Government service providers and medium to large companies operating in the private sector to apply for a Graduate Certificate of Leadership. The course will target those in managerial positions of responsibility to increase knowledge and skills with the aim of providing both individuals and organisations with increased capacity to operate efficiently and profitably. More specifically, the course will assist the participants to understand the multi-faceted nature of successfully leading strategy, teams, change and performance across a large, complex organisation.
Course participants will be drawn from a range of state-owned enterprises, Government service providers and medium to large companies.
