PNG UNRE signs agreement with Taiwan university

 THE Papua New Guinea University of Natural Resources and Environment (UNRE) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Taiwan Ocean University.


This was revealed by UNRE Vice-Chancellor Prof Aisak Pue.

Pue said the purpose of this MoU agreement is for education academic research and the MoU between the two institutions was signed last month.

He explained the MoU covered, but was not limited to:

  • DEVELOPMENT of mutual beneficial academic training programmes;
  • EXCHANGE of students for the purpose of studying;
  • EXCHANGE of faculty and staff for the purposes teaching, research and extension;
  • RECIPROCAL assistance for visiting academic faculty, staff and students;
  • COORDINATION of joint research and technology transfer activities; and,
  • EXCHANGE of documentation and research materials in fields of mutual interest.

Pue added that the department of Fisheries and Marine Resources will manage the MoU on behalf of the university.

“This partnership is the perfect opportunity to build the capacity of young academics at the university and it could also be used to develop a graduate assistance programme for the UNRE where top scoring graduates are recruited and mentored as academics,” he said.
