A Jew who came to PNG in 2015 in search for peace has recently been admitted to the bar at Waigani Supreme and National Court to practice law in Papua New Guinea. His admission took place on Tuesday, 31st January.
Last year (2022), Sharhar Yadin, has graduated with a bachelor of law degree at the 67th graduation of the University of Papua New Guinea. He ended his studies as the top student from the School of Law and received the Dean’s Award for the best male student.

Apart from Mr Yadin’s intention in searching for peace in PNG, he had applied to study law at UPNG and fortunately he got accepted and was enrolled at UPNG in 2018.
Yadin successfully completed his studies in 2021 and graduated in 2022 with a GPA of 4.5 and graduated under the category of second class from division one.
“My intention of practising law in PNG is that, I know I have something good to contribute towards the development and peace of this great nation,” Yadin added after his admission.
According to Mr Yadin, his journey in search for peace began 10 years ago when he was involved in a war in Lebanon as a young Israeli man. After experiencing the horrors of war and the ugliest side of human’s existence in the world, he started asking questions about life and peace, eventually those questions put him on a spiritual journey in search for peace.
“Those questions burned inside of me and put me on a journey of a spiritual quest which caused me to leave Israel and I ended up in New Zealand, in a place that serves as an embassy of peace.” Yadin recalled.
“I grew up in Israel. I’m from a Jewish Israelite family, in the house of Judah (a community village). I served in the Israel defence force from 2004 to 2007 straight after secondary school and then I happened to be involved in the war in 2006.
“These are few of the experiences I had and those experiences have shaped and mould me to search for opportunity with a test of time. Eventually, the opportunity I got in PNG, especially the peace, love, care and most importantly the knowledge which was imparted in me is something I would hold so dearly in my heart. For as much as I live in this country, I would gladly serve this nation for better," Yadin added.
Mr. Yadin is customarily adapted by nanga Kundimb clan of nenga tribe in Western Highlands Province. His adapted tribesmen were on hand to witness his admission on Tuesday, 31st January.
