The new Bachelor of Business (Accounting and Management) Online Program was launched on Thursday, March 12, at the university’s School of Business in the presence of students, lecturers and invited guests.

The program was officially unveiled by Kinoka Feo, PNG Minister for Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, who also holds the Sports portfolio and is currently acting as Education Minister.

Joining the minister at the ceremony were his First Secretary Chapman Namaro and DHERST Assistant Secretary Leah Margis.

University representatives said the move to online learning follows six years of preparation, including investment in ICT systems, training of academic staff and the development of appropriate digital platforms to support remote teaching.

Officials said the program will initially run as a pilot to strengthen the university’s ability to deliver further online courses in the future.

They added that the initiative is expected to open new learning opportunities for students in remote parts of Papua New Guinea and neighbouring Pacific countries.
