BAT takes first PNG graduate to work and learn in Hong Kong

Meet Kellianne Ewam, our Marketing Global Graduate based in Hong Kong as part of her 18-month rotation program with British American Tobacco Papua New Guinea (BAT PNG).

She is the first PNG graduate to work and learn in BAT Asia Pacific & Middle East (APME) Regional office, a long way from Lae, Morobe province where she hails from. The willingness to learn was the foundation of her progress within BAT PNG, she says.

"There was an immediate shift in mindset when I joined the Program and BAT. Yes I am in Papua New Guinea, but I was challenged to elevate my thinking, attitude and conduct to global market

standards and expectations" she said. "There are diverse thoughts and approaches to be considered and the culture of inclusion which means you will not be left alone but actively involved in important decision making by expressing your ideas and opinions. It was a good challenge for me which has allowed me to push myself further which has resulted in my secondment to the APME Regional office”.

This step change was further complemented by having direct access to Senior Management to guide her Professional Development.

Kellianne has gained a well-rounded appreciation of Marketing from: Planning, Data Analysis & Insights, Brand Management and was involved in a Special Project Team before being seconded to Hong Kong with the Regional Strategic Unit (RSU), Consumer Marketing Team.

We look forward to her rejoining the BAT PNG business after her final rotation and contributing to the growth of the business while also building on her professional career.
