PNG University opens Oro Campus

Papua New Guinea University of Natural Resources and Environment (PNGUNRE) has resumed academic programmes at its Popondetta campus, by enrolling 40 year-one agriculture students both male and female for this year.

PNG Higher Education Minister Raminai visiting the main PNGUNRE campus

This followed a decision by the Department of Higher Education Research Science and Technology (DHERST) last year.

UNRE’s pro-vice-chancellor planning and development Dr Livingstone Tavul said the management renovated and upgraded the Popendetta campus’ facilities, including the information and communication technology (ICT) infrastructures and services.

Tavul said communication was the main challenge.

“Two weeks ago, the ICT team from our main campus at Vudal, led by ICT acting manager Leo Darius, visited Northern to reconnect the campus with the rest of the world which the installation of the campus radio link was done successfully.”
