University of Goroka moves to expand Mt Hagen campus

THE University of Goroka’s (UOG) Mt Hagen campus or the  institute of distance and flexible learning needs to expand with talks underway for its relocation, the university's spoke person  says.

Campus director Hugo Kop said on Thursday during the institute’s fifth graduation that the number of intakes had increased.

He said the current office space at the Hagen Park Secondary School was inadequate.

Kop said a piece of land had been chosen and was awaiting the go-ahead for development once a memorandum of understanding was finalised.

UOG acting vice-chancellor Dr Teng Waninga also indicated that the shelved certificate in tertiary admission studies would be accessible next year.

The programme was shelved indefinitely last year by the former management due to certain irregularities.

The fifth graduation saw a total of 61 students graduate.

A total of eight students graduated with a bachelor’s of education in school management for secondary schools while 43 graduated with a degree in managing primary schools.

Female graduands Ewa Wariye and Lillian Tep received awards for returning the highest grade point averages.
