This follows questions from NBC News following a notice that went viral on Social Media that students airfares are on hold.

With the resumption of the 2022 academic year, students on government-sponsored scholarships are expected to receive their airfares to travel to various tertiary institutions.

However, the notice has caused confusion among students who are hoping to travel to their respective schools.

Acting Secretary of the Department, Dr. Hualupmomi confirmed with NBC National News that funding of K3 million was paid last week to Air Niugini.

He says they have paid for tickets for some institutions two weeks ago where students have travelled.

Dr. Hualupmomi says other institutions will receive their tickets this week as they have raised the K3 million cheque.

Students can bring their identification cards to the nearest Air Niugini office to get their tickets.
