Director for quality assurance Prof Maretta Kula-Semos made the remark during the announcement of DWU’s membership with Quality Matters (QM), an organisation specialising in quality assurance in online and innovative digital teaching and learning environments.

Kula-Semos said the partnership with QM would enabled access to a comprehensive, research-supported quality assurance process to design and develop accessible and engaging online courses.

She said QM professional development opportunities provided staff with pathways to develop and strengthen key online design and delivery skills.

“We believe that joining the QM community aligns perfectly with the goals of DWU,” she said.

“We envisage our online learners to achieve at the highest level and are committed to creating learning environments that provide a clear pathway to success.”

“We envision Divine Word as a leading university in technological innovation into the future; our membership with QM is one of our highest achievements going forward.”

Kula-Semos said that additional tools and resources allowed DWU to evaluate course and programme designs to ensure that the needs of online learners were being met.

She said DWU was now part of a community of more than 1,500 organisations that put learners first.

“We look forward to collaborating with and learning from others in the community as we move forward,” she said.
