National Online Application System (NOAS) DHERST PNG

National Online Application System (NOAS) DHERST PNG – 2026 Application Cycle for Academic Year 2027

The National Online Application System (NOAS) is the official online application platform managed by the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST) for the national admission of students into registered Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Papua New Guinea.

Each year, Grade 12 school leavers and eligible non-school leavers (NSL) use NOAS to apply for admission into universities, colleges and other registered higher education institutions across PNG. The system provides a transparent and efficient way for applicants to participate in the national selection process.

  • 2026 Application Cycle for Academic Year 2027
  • Application Cycle Opens: 11 August 2026

The 2026 application cycle is for students seeking admission for the 2027 academic year.

DHERST encourages all prospective applicants to make full use of the NOAS platform and carefully follow all application requirements, admission-test requirements and official deadlines.

The 2025 National Selection for Academic Year 2026 has already been conducted. Students who previously applied should continue checking their NOAS MyStatus for updates.

Students who received offers through the National Admission Pool must also log into their NOAS accounts to accept or decline their offers.

Step 1: Access the NOAS Portal

The NOAS platform is the main online portal for the national higher education application and selection process.

Who can apply?

  • Grade 12 students (school leavers)
  • Eligible non-school leavers (NSL)
  • Applicants seeking admission into registered PNG Higher Education Institutions

Current Grade 12 students will receive their NOAS login credentials through their school patrons.

Once logged in, students can access important sections of their account, including MyStatus, MyData and eligible programme information.

Keep Your Login Details Safe

NOAS usernames, passwords and other login credentials are confidential.

Do not share your login information with another person.

Step 2: Check Your Personal Information

Before applying for programmes, students should carefully check their information in NOAS.

Students should:

  • Check that their personal information is correct.
  • Confirm that their student information has been properly recorded.
  • Consult their school patron if they identify incorrect information.
  • Make sure they have a personal and reliable email account.

For Grade 12 Students:

Consult your school patron to ensure that your student information has been correctly recorded and submitted.

For Non-School Leavers:

Non-school leavers should check the websites of the institutions they wish to apply to for information about NSL admission tests and other institutional requirements.

Step 3: Explore Eligible Programmes

Registered Higher Education Institutions provide programmes through the national application system.

After logging into NOAS, students should check the MyEligible Programmes section to see the programmes for which they may be eligible.

Applicants should carefully read programme requirements before making their choices.

Some programmes may have additional prerequisites or require applicants to sit an admission test.

Important: If your expected subject combination or eligible programmes do not appear in your NOAS account, do not assume that you are automatically ineligible.

Immediately consult your school administration or school patron so your student information can be checked.

Step 4: Register for STAT-PNG Where Required

Some higher education programmes require applicants to sit the Special Tertiary Admissions Test – PNG (STAT-PNG).

STAT-P Registration Opens: 11 August 2026
STAT-P Registration Deadline: 12 October 2026

Applicants intending to apply for programmes requiring STAT-PNG should register and sit the test within the required period.

STAT-PNG is a prerequisite for programmes at:

  • Divine Word University – Madang Campus
  • PNG University of Technology
  • Pacific Adventist University
  • University of Goroka

Students should check the relevant programme requirements carefully because admission-test requirements may differ between programmes.

Step 5: Prepare Your Application Requirements

Before completing your application, make sure you have the necessary information and access to your NOAS account.

You should have:

  • A personal email account.
  • Your NOAS username and password.
  • Correct personal and student information.
  • Information about your preferred programmes.
  • Any required admission-test results or registration details.
  • Access to the NOAS User Guide where required.

Take time to check your information before submitting your application.

Step 6: Make Your Programme Choices

Students should carefully consider the programmes and institutions they wish to attend.

Use the MyEligible Programmes section of NOAS to identify available choices and check the entry requirements for each programme.

  • Read the programme requirements carefully.
  • Check whether an admission test is required.
  • Consider your Grade 12 subjects and results.
  • Select programmes that match your qualifications and career interests.
  • Carefully review your selections before finalising your application.

Step 7: Understand Scholarships and Other Opportunities

Applicants should also check whether their preferred programmes or institutions have scholarship opportunities.

Some study opportunities may include bilateral scholarships or other scholarship arrangements.

Read the information provided with each programme carefully to determine whether you meet the eligibility requirements and whether a separate scholarship application is required.

Step 8: Protect Your NOAS Account

  • Keep your username and password confidential.
  • Do not give your login credentials to friends or other people.
  • Do not allow another person to apply using your account.
  • Report account or login problems as soon as possible.
  • Contact your school patron or DHERST if you require assistance.

Step 9: Check Your NOAS Status Regularly

Students should regularly log into their NOAS accounts and check MyStatus for important updates.

This is particularly important for students who have already applied or received an admission offer.

Students selected through the National Admission Pool must log into their accounts and follow the instructions provided to accept or decline their offer.
