PNG University of Goroka Students evacuated after Residential Halls hit by 7.6 Magnitude earthquake

 Papua New Guinea University of Goroka Acting Vice Chancellor, Dr. Teng Waninga has confirmed that students have evacuated the UOG female and male seven-storey students' hall of residence.

The University of Goroka has assured parents that the students are okay.


They are now looking for temporary accommodations for the 1, 500-plus students.

The Vice-Chancellor also confirmed that only five students have been injured with no deaths reports.

The university dormitory was damaged by a massive 7.6 magnitude earthquake that hit parts of PNG with its epicentre in Markham Valley in Morobe.

Meantime, Eastern Highlands Provincial Government is ready to assist the University of Goroka.

On Monday, Eastern Highlands Governor Simon Sia met with the UOG top Management Team to commit to the provincial government's support.
