PNG International Studies final year student Albert Wokam Rem promotes Divine Word University Course Programmes

 Papua New Guinea International Studies final year student Albert Wokam Rem was part of an eight-men marketing team promoting Divine Word University’s programs to two secondary schools in Madang’s Sumkar and Bogia districts recently. 

Mr Rem spoke to the students detailing the different programs offered under the Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FASS) and shared his university experience of studying under the PNG and International Studies program.

He also listed examples of career pathways relating to the programs and the entry requirements for each of the programs.


There are four full time course programs offered under the Faculty of Arts and Social Science.

1. Bachelor of Communication Arts (Journalism) requires a minimum of “B” grade in Language and Literature and “B” average in all other subjects taken at Grade 12 level. Applicants with Social Science background are preferred.

2. Bachelor of Arts (Papua New Guinea and International Studies) requires a minimum of “B” grade in English, “B” grade in Mathematics A and B and all social science subjects. “B” grade average in final year 12 examinations or matriculations studies.

3. Bachelor of Arts (Social and Religious Studies) requires successful completion of Grade 12 national examinations with an overall “B” average in English  (language and literature) social sciences, mathematics, religious studies, and personal development. Special consideration is given to students who have had advance diploma(s) from recognized institutions such as seminaries as prior learning which allows for further development.

Previous religious training should include and reflect a genuine acquisition of knowledge in scripture, theology, pastoral, counselling and psychology subjects with a focus on the Church teachings on social justice and with a view of rendering service within PNG Churches.

4. Bachelor of Arts (Social Work) requires successful completion of Grade 12 national examinations with a an overall “B” average in English (language and literature), social sciences, mathematics, religious studies and personal.
