The National Online Application System (NOAS) is an online platform developed by Papua New Guinea's Department of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology (DHERST) to streamline the application and selection process for tertiary education. It allows Grade 12 students to apply for programs at various higher education institutions across the country. Through NOAS, students can create individual accounts to input their program choices, check their eligibility status, and make adjustments during the designated Grace Period. The system also provides status indicators—such as green, red, or white lights—helping students understand their eligibility for specific programs based on their Grade 12 results and GPA. Once the Grace Period ends, NOAS access is restricted, and final selections are carried out by institutions based on merit and program requirements.
The Grace Period will take place from 9th December to 14th December 2024.
As of 16th December 2024, student access to the NOAS (National Online Application System) platform will be restricted in preparation for tertiary selections. During the Grace Period, students will have access to their NOAS individual accounts to finalize their application choices.
What is the Grace Period?
The Grace Period allows Grade 12 School Leavers to review and make final changes to their program choices in the NOAS platform.
After this period, NOAS access will be restricted, and no further changes can be made as the selection process progresses.
Students will still be able to log in to view the status of their selections, but no edits will be permitted.
- What Should You Do During the Grace Period?
Check Your Grade 12 Examination Results Online.
- Visit the NDoE MyExam Results website to review your final GPA and subject results.
- Adjust Your Choices Based on Your GPA.
- If your GPA is higher or lower than expected, update your NOAS choices accordingly.
- If satisfied with your current choices, no changes are necessary.
Understanding the Status of Your Choices
When you log in to the NOAS platform, you’ll see the status of your program choices indicated by different lights:
Green Light:
- You meet the GPA requirement for the program.
- You are eligible for selection but may change your choice if desired.
Red Light:
- You do not meet the GPA requirement for the program.
- Adjust your choice to a program that aligns with your GPA.
- A red light indicates ineligibility for that program based on your Grade 12 results.
White Light (or No Shading):
- You are eligible for the program but face high competition.
- Selection will depend on Tertiary Selection Scores (top scores among eligible students).
Programs Availability
Limited Programs:
- If your GPA and results are insufficient, you may see limited or no eligible programs in your NOAS account.
- Refer to your NDoE MyExam Results for clarification on your GPA when finalizing your choices.
Available Programs:
- Institutions set their own program requirements.
- If a program appears on your account but doesn’t align with your subject combinations, you are not obligated to apply.
Important Notes:
- If you cannot make changes and still see a red light, consider yourself ineligible for selection.
- For white light choices, note that spaces are limited, and competition is high. Only students with the highest scores will be selected.
- In some cases, DHERST may place eligible students into institutions they did not initially choose due to high competition.
