Tertiary Selections Report for National Capital District 2025
The Department of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology (DHERST) 2025 Tertiary Selection list reveals that the National Capital District (NCD) recorded a total of 2,043 students selected for tertiary institutions across Papua New Guinea. These selections encompass school leavers and non-school leavers.

Port Moresby National School of Excellence led the province with 253 students selected. This included 177 students gaining university placements, 44 in technical colleges, and 27 in business colleges. Marianville Secondary School followed with 129 students selected, including 66 for universities and 49 for business colleges. St. Charles Lwanga Secondary secured 132 placements, with 55 in universities and 41 in business colleges.
Non-school leavers contributed 102 students to the total. These included 35 placed in technical colleges, 33 in business colleges, and 28 in universities. This highlights the pathway opportunities available for individuals outside the regular school system.

Other top-performing schools included Gordon Secondary with 155 students selected, Badihagwa Secondary with 138, and De La Salle (Bomana) Secondary with 109 students. Tokarara Secondary, Butuka Academy, and Koiari Park Adventist Secondary also made notable contributions, with 89, 106, and 94 students selected, respectively.
