Entry Requirements
- Grade 12 with a minimum GPA of 2.8 on the HSC from recognized institutions.
- B grade or better in Language and Literature, or A grade in Applied English.
- B grade in General Mathematics, or C grade in Advance Mathematics.
- B grade or better in respective or related subject specialization
- Minimum STAT P percentile of 50
3.2 Bachelor of Agriculture (In-service) – 4 Semesters
- Education

Entry Requirements
- Diploma in Agriculture
- More than three years of work experiences in the area of agriculture extension
- Plus satisfactory inspector’s supervisor’s reports (Inspection report must be within the last five years from the date of application).
- Any other qualification and experience deemed appropriate by the Admissions Committee.
3.3 Bachelor of Mathematics (In-service-Secondary) - 4 Semesters
Entry Requirements
- Diploma in Teaching Secondary.
- Professional registration as a teacher.
- More than two years of teaching experience.
- Satisfactory Report from the Regional Standard Officer of applicant’s performance (Report must be within the last five years from the date of application).
- Any other qualification and experience deemed appropriate by the Admissions Committee.
3.4 Bachelor in Midwifery (In-service) – 3 Semesters
Entry Requirements
- Diploma in Nursing
- Professional Registration as a Nurse with PNG Nursing Council.
- More than three years of work experience in the area of maternal health services of the government, church, and NGOs.
- Plus satisfactory inspector’s or supervisor’s reports (Inspection report must be within the last five years from the date of application).
- Any other qualification and experience deemed appropriate by the Admissions Committee.
3.5 Diploma in PVTE Agriculture – 2 Semesters
Entry Requirements
- Diploma Tropical Agriculture or PCD Agriculture with a minimum GPA of 2.4.
- More than three years of work experiences in the area of Agriculture or Agriculture Extension.
- Plus satisfactory inspector’s or supervisor’s reports (Inspection report must be within the last five years from the date of application).
- Any other qualification and experience deemed appropriate by the Admissions Committee.
3.6 Diploma in PVTE Health – 2 Semesters

- Teaching
Entry Requirements
- Certificate or Diploma in Nursing in any health professional specialty from accredited institutions recognized by NDOH.
- Professional Registration as a Nurse with PNG Nursing Council.
- More than three years of work experiences in the area of Health Education or Health Teaching with health services of the government, church and NGOs.
- Plus satisfactory inspector’s or supervisor’s reports (Inspection report must be within the last five years from the date of application). For Health Teaching, the applicant should be recommended and supported by health training institutions.
- Any other qualification and experience deemed appropriate by the Admissions Committee.
3.7 Diploma in Science (In-service - Primary) – 4 Semesters

- Diploma/Certificate in Teaching Primary.
- Professional registration as a teacher.
- More than two years of teaching experience.

Post Graduate
3.1 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Science (By Research) – 8 Semesters
The University of Goroka (UOG) offers a Doctor of Philosophy in most of the disciplines that are offered at postgraduate level. Prospective students that wish to in pursuing doctoral studies can contact the Director for Graduate Studies or the relevant Dean in a School. For Admission and Program Regulations governing the Doctor of Philosophy are advised to consult or obtain the University of Goroka Post Graduate Studies Handbook and consult the appropriate section of the publication. The degree of Doctor of Philosophy is offered in the School of Education and the School of Science and Technology. A person interested in taking up doctoral studies may consult the relevant School Dean or Director, Post Graduate Studies.
Entry Requirements:
- Degree of Master or a Bachelor with First Class Honors or equivalent from a Senate-recognized institution shall be eligible to apply to register as a student of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
- Applications should be made to the Chair of Post Graduate Studies Admissions and should include the details required by the prescribed form for Application for doctoral studies and a research proposal.
- The Application, upon receipt, will be registered and forwarded to the relevant School Post Graduate Studies for a recommendation to the Senate or its delegate. A recommendation for registration to doctoral studies must include the proposed name(s) of one or more supervisors.
- Applicants for the Doctor of Philosophy, upon admission will be registered provisionally for six months. Students, within the six months will be required to develop and prepare their thesis. At the end of that period Senate or its delegate - to confirm or cancel the student’s candidature - will review the prepared work.
- A student’s candidature will commence, if the review is confirmed, from the commencement of admission.

3.2 Master of Science (By Research) - 2 to 4 Semesters

- Bachelor of Science Honors, Second Class Upper Division or better from a recognized institution, or
- Obtained an appropriate Post Graduate Diploma with at a GPA of 3.0.
- More than two years of work experience in a relevant field of science.
- Two references from current or recent employer for more than two years. References from employers more than 5 years ago will not be considered.
- A research proposal of 500 words maximum in a nominated field of study.

Applicants should have a first degree in Science with an average GPA of 2.7 or better at undergraduate studies in Years 3 and 4 of Bachelor of Science courses or equivalent.
Where necessary, applicants with two years of work experience in a relevant field of education must supply two references from current or recent employer for more than two years. References from employers more than 5 years ago will not be considered.

- Obtained a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Goroka with a GPA of at least 2.7 in 300 – and 400 – level courses in the appropriate major.
- Obtained a Bachelor’s degree from another tertiary institution a qualification deemed suitable or equivalent to that of the above by the Senate or its delegate.
- Bachelor of Science in the respective specializations.
- Graduate Certificate in the respective specializations.
- More than two years of work experience.
- Satisfactory Report from the employer of applicant’s performance (Report must be within the last five years from the date of application).
- Any other qualification and/or experience deemed appropriate by the Admissions Committee.
