PNG’s First University Student Toastmasters Club Opens at Western Pacific University
Western Pacific University has made history by establishing Papua New Guinea's first student Toastmasters Club, giving students and staff access to internationally recognised leadership and communication training.

The initiative aims to nurture confident speakers and capable leaders by providing practical opportunities to strengthen public speaking, leadership and management skills alongside academic studies.
Operating under the Toastmasters International programme, the club will offer members structured learning experiences that build confidence, improve communication and develop leadership abilities applicable in both professional and community settings.
Launching the club, Western Pacific University President Professor Janet Rangou said the initiative reflects the university's broader vision of preparing graduates for future challenges.
She said the club is intended to build a culture of leadership and lifelong learning while helping members become effective communicators in an increasingly connected world.
The university said the programme complements its commitment to holistic education by ensuring graduates leave with both academic knowledge and the practical skills required to lead and serve their communities.
"This is more than just a club. It is a movement that will equip the WPU community to thrive in an increasingly connected and rapidly changing world."
